Our Background

CONNECT (54).png

Our founders are Long Covid patients who are determined to ensure others can access the help and support they lacked at the start of their own journeys.

Jason: once a powerhouse in the wellness realm as a seasoned Personal Trainer, skilled Sports Massage Therapist, and expert in Nutrition & Health. Though his physical capabilities have changed dramatically, his wealth of knowledge and experience remains invaluable. Today, Jason dedicates himself to advocating for and supporting others on their Long Covid journeys.

Star: a dedicated NHS Mental Health Employment Specialist within the Community Mental Health Team. With a holistic approach to well-being, Star was not only adept at helping individuals find meaningful employment but also excelled as a skilled Holistic Massage Practitioner. Knowledge of disability benefits ensures that she can provide comprehensive support to those in need, combining mental health expertise with practical assistance. Star’s multifaceted skills make her an invaluable asset to the Community. Though now disabled by Long Covid, Star continues to advocate passionately and support individuals with Long Covid.

Living with Long Covid is challenging in so many ways.

Long Covid Connect UK strives to ease the difficulties faced by those affected and reduce the feelings of isolation and confusion that arise from our government's lack of urgent action, clear guidelines, and focus on this epidemic.

"I understand’—these words hold immense power for those living with Long Covid, yet they are seldom heard. At Long Covid Connect UK, our volunteers offer much-needed understanding, empathy, and information to those who reach out.

ABOUT US

Welcome to Long Covid Connect UK, a volunteer-driven initiative by individuals who have lived with Long Covid or advocate for it.

Our team boasts diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and experience, united in our mission to support the Long Covid #community locally with resources, emotional support, and essential services.

We offer a free service unparalleled by any other Long Covid charity in the UK: our Emotional Support Helpline. Available to those in the UK suffering from or suspecting they have Long Covid, the helpline provides empathetic listening without offering medical advice, much like the Samaritans.

Our website is a treasure trove of resources, including medical updates, research, and blogs. Additionally, we host a patient-led Facebook support group and a befriending service to connect you with fellow Long Covid warriors in your area.

Long Covid Connect UK is not a charity or social enterprise, but a collective of local community members offering a helping hand through shared knowledge and experiences.

We aim to bridge the gap in support services within our community.

Follow, support, and if you can, volunteer with us. Let's unite for a cause that matters!

Best regards, Jason & Star

Mission Statement

When you are ill with a chronic condition like Long Covid, there are many things you want to know. What treatments help, where can you find a doctor who understands you, and where can you get reliable information to access benefits claims?

It can be even more important to make contact with another person, someone who understands how these medical conditions affect everyday life and the many challenges they bring. Someone who will listen without judgment.

The purpose of Long Covid Connect UK is simple. It is here to support people affected by Long Covid to help them make informed choices. We are here to listen, to validate, and empathise with any issues you might be facing.

They offer compassion, empathy, and a supportive listening ear.
